Macau
Dr. Yile Chen has a Ph.D. in Architecture, a master's in Urban Planning and Design, and a B.A. in Landscape Architecture and is an Assistant Professor (2025~2026) and Master's Thesis Supervisor (2025~2027) in architecture at the Faculty of Humanities and Arts, Macau University of Science and Technology. As of October 2026, the H-index in Scopus is 18; H-index in Google Scholar is 19. Meanwhile, one of the journal papers indexed in SCIE/A&HCI was selected as an ESI "Highly Cited Paper" (ranking in the top 1% globally in the field of Environment/Ecology, March/April 2026).
She has published more than 60 papers as the first author or corresponding author in SCIE, SSCI, and A&HCI indexed journals. She has served as the editor of multiple books: Amphibious Settlements: Waterborne Communities and Heritage Governance across Pearl, Min, and Xi River Basins (Advances in 21st Century Human Settlements, Springer, 2027), Data Center Space Planning in Smart Cities (Digital Innovations in Architecture, Engineering and Construction, Springer, 2027), City-Sea Symbiosis: Settlement Morphology Types in Zhuhai and Macau (Springer Geography book, 2026).
She focuses on architectural technology in high-density urban form and water-faring community (Tanka), as well as the protection and renewal of urban and architectural heritage in Macau and Portuguese-speaking regions.
In 2025~2026, she successfully organized seven special issues for two SCI-indexed journals as a Guest Editor. Since September 2026, she has served as an Associate Editor of npj Heritage Science. Since November 2024, she has also been an editorial board member of PLOS ONE, Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, and Agricultural & Rural Studies, and serves as a peer reviewer for 121 SCIE/SSCI/A&HCI/ESCI indexed journals.
